The Diocese of San Jose is host to a 886.2 kW DC solar installation system installed on six parish/schools combinations, including Holy Spirit, Holy Family, Saint Christopher, Queen of Apostles and Saint Lucy, as well as Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

The systems consist of more than 5,000 solar panels that occupy 70,000 square feet and will provide 70 percent of each site’s electricity needs from renewable solar energy.  

PES utilized conventional construction and permanent financing and took advantage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, Section 1603 Grant Program proceeds to fund the entire installation without any capital outlay by the Diocese of San Jose.
