ASTI WINERY
1.19 MW DC

Asti is host to the third largest solar installation at a winery in the United States, a 1.15 MW DC system capable of generating 1,549,629 kilowatt hours of green energy annually.

The history of Asti Winery dates back to the early 1880's when Andrea Sbarboro created the Italian Swiss Agricultural Colony, a community cooperative that played an important role in California's early viticulture history as one of the winemaking pioneers in Sonoma County. Today, Asti is the home of Souverain and Cellar no.8.

Foster's Wine Estates currently hosts four solar installations, including Etude, Asti, Beringer and Stags' Leap Wineries, financed and owned by Perpetual Energy Systems, a comprehensive developer of solar powered renewable energy systems. The total project will generate 3,852,271 kWh, eliminating more than 2.0 million pounds of CO2 emissions annually.

The reduction of 2.0 million pounds of CO2 is equivalent to:

  • Taking 183 passenger cars off the roads for a year
  • The amount of CO2 that it would take 155,267 trees to process from the environment in a year
